Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder Review
Loose powder is a makeup ‘must have’ in my collection. With combination skin such as mine, I like using powder to mattify my face especially around the T-Zone area and of course set my foundation.
Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder has been a much sought after product and has been a favourite amongst makeup lovers over the years. This was actually one of my first ever purchases from Laura Mercier! I’d contemplated buying it for a little while, but eventually I was convinced after reading all the glowing reviews it had received.
The Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder in Translucent is a lightweight, sheer and finely milled talc. As I may have mentioned (on more than one occasion) I like my makeup looking natural and fresh, so the tiniest dusting goes a long way for me. I’ve tried using this with a powder brush and also powder puff, but found a brush gave the most air brushed finish whereas the powder puff made my makeup look a bit too cakey. It controls shine pretty well too so I don’t have to worry about blotting every 5 minutes!
The setting powder comes in a circular powder pot with sifter which is great for shaking the powder out when using. The only thing I don’t really like though is that when I’m travelling around with it, the powder gets all shook up and I end up with excessive amounts of it inside the lid! I know the Mineral Powder pot has a tab which locks the powder inside when you’re not using it, so I’m not sure why the loose powder can’t follow suit!
Laura Mercier products unfortunately don’t come cheap and this 29g pot costs £29. Given that you only have to use a tiny amount each time though, it is going to really last you so it’s an investment if ever I saw one! You can pick up Laura Mercier products from places such as Space NK and John Lewis.
Do you have a favourite loose powder or pressed powder? Have you tried any of the powders from Laura Mercier?
Love Sophia xo
I was checking out their loose powder out in Selfridges today – I was so tempted to give it but I decided to a bit more research. I think you’ve convinced me though 😉 xx

I love Selfridges! Have you been to their new Beauty Workshop section yet? I want to pop in today, haha! Anyway, back to the loose powder.. it really is one of the best powders I’ve used! 😀 I was using Chanel Poudre Universelle Libre but think it was breaking me out 🙁 xx
