Green People Aloe Shampoo and Conditioner Review

I’ve never been one to be picky about my shampoo and conditioners and have used an array of brands from the high street over the years. Recently, however, my scalp has not been reacting well to my usual choices and post washing, my scalp would feel irritable and I was getting dandruff which I had never had before. After doing some research I figured that the most probable cause was the SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate) in the products I’d been using that was causing me problems so I went ahead and invested in some SLS free shampoo and conditioner from Green People.

It’s a bit more difficult to get SLS free products on the high street so I popped into my local Whole Foods where I knew they were bound to have something which would fit the bill. The shop assistant recommended I try the Green People Daily Aloe shampoo and conditioner which is not only SLS free but also free of ‘SLES, alcohol (ethyl alcohol, ethanol), parabens, methylisothiazolinone, methylchloroisothiazolinone, phthalates and artificial fragrances’ It’s also suitable for all hair types so I didn’t have to worry about it upsetting the balance of my hair or anything like that.

The packaging is very neutral which I particularly like as it resonates with it’s natural and nasties free ingredients list, however the smell was something to get used to. The smell is of aloe and lavender but the overall scent was very strongly herbal which is completely different to the fruity smells of high street brands. Regardless, it is something you definitely get used to and having used the products for over a month now it’s not as overwhelming as it was!

Also something to note is that you don’t need a lot of shampoo when washing your hair. I normally use an amount just shy of a 50p size and with gradual amounts of water you get a great lather. You may notice your hair get quite a ‘squeeky clean’ feeling after rinsing and you may even feel like your hair is slightly matted. However providing you use a conditioner afterwards, I didn’t have any problems with my hair when it came to drying.

Since using the Green People Aloe Shampoo and Conditioner my scalp has been much calmer and definitely less irritated. My hair also retains some shine and the conditioner has been great for keeping my hair, especially the ends, super soft.

The Green People Aloe Shampoo and Conditioner were both around £11 each from Whole Foods which isn’t exactly the cheapest BUT a little goes a long way and it’s a small price to pay for keeping my head happy and healthy!

Have you tried organic shampoos and conditioners before?
