It’s been a while since I’ve posted so I wanted to start off by saying hello and how are you?
That time I started a YouTube channel
I had been planning to come back sooner but in all honesty, my head and heart just wasn’t in it. As some of you might know, I tried my hand at making YouTube videos over on my channel but soon realised that filming and editing takes a lot of time (kudos to those who do this as a day job). It was fun and to some extent, easy, but there’s a lot that goes into putting a video together. YouTube plus a full-time job was hard and I couldn’t devote the focus it needed. Instead, it’s now lying dormant until I’m ready to pursue it again.
What happened in the last 2 years?
So what have I been up to from 2018 to now? Well a lot can happen in 2 years.
Firstly, I turned 30, my boyfriend and I went to Japan for the first time to celebrate my birthday, we got a mini lop bunny called Oreo (more on her to come later :)), travelled some more, been eating a lot, started a food Instagram to document my eating, did a 6 week fitness challenge, discovered a love for fitness and subsequently changing my lifestyle for the better, I’ve started on a journey towards minimalism and so on.
Even though I’ve been busy with life, it’s not to say that I haven’t missed blogging. I just haven’t felt inspired to blog like how I used to. OG followers will remember me as a beauty fanatic who loved trying new skincare & makeup. However, not to sound cliche but age really does give you wisdom and with that a new perspective.
In my 20’s I was every brands’ dream; buying all the newest launches to try and documenting the experience. But as I’ve got older, I don’t find myself changing up my products as often anymore, especially skincare. There is a temptation to try new things sometimes but often I end up buying a reliable favourite. I then realised beauty was no longer my focus so lost interest in writing and began making YouTube videos instead.
I enjoyed the freedom of being able to film videos about things I liked which was still beauty but also fashion & homeware too etc. However, I began to accumulate things that I would “love” but soon there was something else to get excited about. I thought I needed to share new things to be able to create content which is not the case.
New passions & perspectives
So I’m bringing it back to basics. I’m going to try blogging again but this time I’m going to try and do it a little differently. I’m going to share with you all of my interests rather than siloing myself to just beauty. For example, I LOVE food and I don’t think I’ve ever (if at all) conveyed that on my blog. I thought because my blog is a beauty blog, I didn’t know how to make that content “fit in” here. Truth is, it doesn’t matter. I held myself back with my perceptions of what my blog should be which is probably why I lost motivation.
However, now I’m motivated and ready for whatever new challenges this journey is going to bring me.
Thank you for those who continue to follow me and welcome to those just joining!
