LOreal Rouge Caresse Lipstick Review
I have mentioned the L’Oreal Rouge Caresse lipsticks in several posts – What’s In My Makeup Bag and July Favourites, and in all honesty they are definitely worth the mention! Initially I was excited by the prospect of the Revlon Lip Butters that the Rouge Caresse lipsticks went straight to the back of my mind.
I purchased the shade 03 Lovely Rose during one of many promotions at Boots and have more recently added 07 Cheeky Magenta to my collection. I’d been thinking about trying them out for a while, but since I had gone a bit crazy and bought 4 Revlon Lip Butters in one go I thought I would wait a while before spending more money!
Lovely Rose is a pretty nude, subtle bubble gum pink which glides on really smoothly on the lips. Cheeky Magenta looks like a shocking neon pink, but applies more on the fuchsia side. I think they’re quite pigmented considering they are little more balmy compared to a traditional lipstick formula. Even a light shade such as Love Rose shows up very well compared to the bad experience I had with the Lip Butter in Sugar Frosting, which looked more like a colourless gloss.
The formula is moisturising and keep my lips looking hydrated and plump for most of the day. The Rouge Caresse lipsticks are not as glossy as the Lip Butters either and apply with a slightly matte finish. They have a temptingly sweet fruit scent too which makes it such a pleasure to wear! I consider the lasting power to be considerably more improved than the Revlon Lip Butters and find it doesn’t transfer as easily when I’m eating and drinking.

The packaging of the Rouge Caresse lipsticks are much more minimalist compared to the Lip Butters and are packaged in a transparent casing, instead of candy coloured lids. To be honest I don’t really mind so much as they do look more sleek and polished!
The L’Oreal Rouge Caresse lipsticks are priced at £7.99 which matches the price of the Revlon Lip Butters. Despite some of their similarities L’Oreal has certainly got my vote!
