Algenist Algae Brightening Face Mask Review

Once a week I like to pamper my face by using a deep cleansing mask to really get the dirt and grime out of my pores. I loved the GlamGlow Super Mud Mask but after running out I decided to try out a different brand instead and was recommended the Algenist Algae Brightening Face Mask.

The packaging I must admit isn’t the prettiest what with the grey and black colour scheme and added measurements on the side to indicate how many mls you get in the jar makes it all look quite clinical. Needless to say though it’s what’s on the inside that counts!

The mask itself is a bright green colour which smells as you would expect, like seaweed. There are tiny leaves of sea kelp embedded within the mask itself which helps to gently exfoliate to brighten, smooth and hydrate the skin. It’s feels quite bitty when you’re applying it to your face but it is in no way abrasive and doesn’t scratch your skin. The instructions say to leave the mask on for 10 minutes but I tend to leave it on until it’s almost dry to the touch before rinsing with warm water.

I use the Algenist Algae Brightening face mask once a week and after use my skin definitely feels a lot smoother, not to mention incredibly soft. In terms of brightness I did start to notice a difference after a few uses and the days following use my skin looked clearer and even a little bit glowy!

For about £40 I would definitely consider this a luxury but because you don’t have to use a lot of product to cover your face evenly, you’ll most certainly get your money’s worth! I’ve been using this for a good couple of months now and have only just got about half way through the tub.

I previously purchased the Algenist Algae Brightening Face Mask in store from Space NK but it’s either been discontinued or has sold out because I can’t seem to find it online now apart from on Sephora’s website.

What’s your favourite pampering face mask to use?

Love Sophia xo

This mask reminds me of the Mask of Magnaminty they sell at Lush! At least in color and texture 🙂 I’ve heard a lot of good things about algae for the skin~

Ohh I’ve not heard of the Mask of Magnaminty but it sounds refreshing! Will have to pop in and have a look at it when I’m next in Lush. 🙂 Thanks for the recommendation x
