Dolly Wink Eyeshadow Review
Hi everyone!
I hope you had a lovely weekend and enjoyed the unexpected sunshine! 🙂
So today’s post is on a an eyehadow palette which I picked up on my last trip to HK, but never got round to fully using and that is the Dolly Wink Eyeshadow Palette in 01 Brown!
Koji – Dolly Wink is a Japanese brand which is quite difficult to get hold of in the UK but it is widely available in Hong Kong, so I took the opportunity to grab this while I was out there last summer!
I have neglected this quad for a while as I was favouring my Urban Decay Naked Palette but as I’m travelling a lot more at the weekends, I like to keep my luggage light so this compact Dolly Wink eyeshadow palette is a great alternative!
I think the packaging is simple and sleek, with a small transparent heart in the centre allowing you to peer in at the eyeshadows and also it’s got some swirly heart patterns embossed on the top of the black lid. There’s also a small sponge applicator tucked inside which is handy for touch ups when you’re out and about! The card packaging which comes with the palette also has a mini tutorial on how to use the palette and create a “kawaii” (cute) makeup look! Granted it is all in Japanese, but luckily pictures help the process a long and you can just guess the steps. The colours are also labelled A, B, C and D as well to guide you along the way!
The Dolly Wink palette contains 4 shades: (A) a gold colour with some orangey undertones, (B) a pearly yellow colour, (C) a coppery bronze and (D) a dark brown – all of which are lovely and pigmented, but watch out for the sprinkling of fall out! The dark brown shade can be doubled up as an eyebrow powder as well which saves you having to carry around separate powders or pencils!
All the colours contain a slight shimmer, but it is quite subtle and just adds a touch more depth to the eye. They’re all quite neutral shades too which I like, especially if I’m going to work or for a casual evening out when I want my look to be more toned down. The lasting power of the eyeshadows is quite good but there is a bit of creasing, but it’s nothing a small touch up won’t fix!
There are 4 quads to choose from: 02 Gray Pink, 03 Blue Orange and 04 Green Pink and you can purchase them from Sasa and Yesstyle! I can’t remember quite how much I paid for it, but according to Sasa.com it’s around £10.80.
So have you tried any Dolly Wink products? Do you have any favourites to recommend?
Love Sophia xo
