Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Lipstick Review

Just wanted to share with you another recent purchase of mine, the Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Lipstick in L’Exubérante. Even though this is a purchase I made on a whim, it certainly isn’t one I regret! In fact I think this is exactly what my make up collection needed. Here I present my Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Lipstick Review!
I’ve always been quite safe with my lipstick colours, convinced that wearing a bright lip will be too overwhelming for me. However one of my New Years Resolutions for 2012 is to be more daring and to try more new things, and Chanel’s Rouge Allure Velvet Lipstick is a perfect place to start.
Upon first swatch it was just as I suspected, a lot brighter and bolder than what I would normally choose but at the same time, oh so gorgeous! I plucked up the courage to ask the sales assistant to try it out on my lips and once she had done so, I couldn’t help but smile. It really is one of the prettiest pink Lipsticks I’ve come across so far! ♥ L’Exubérante is a borderline Hot Pink shade, but as scary as this sounds it is a completely different story when you’re wearing this. Honest.

This Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet lipstick gives me the “pop” of colour which I have definitely been missing until now. L’Exubérante is a fun and flirty colour and adds a bit more life to my complexion. That doesn’t mean I look like a zombie (even though I certainly feel that way sometimes) but it makes me look more animated and lively! Perfect for adding that touch of colour to any look.
The smell of the Rouge Allure Velvet is as delicious as any other Chanel lipstick! It applies easily on the lips and gives a nice matte finish. There is no excess smell or taste which is perfect as I know some lipsticks can have an overpowering consistency. The Rouge Allure Velvet lasts me a good couple of hours before I need to reapply. However what’s good about this lipstick is that although it’s slowly melting off your lips, it still leaves your lips stained with a lovely pinkish hue.
Another thing I love about this lipstick is, you’ve guessed it ‘The Packaging” – it really is something else! The Rouge Allure Velvet is encased in a sleek black container which is trademark Chanel. To release the lipstick you need to press the gold button, which is in fact the bottom of the lipstick itself! It’s a delight to use and looks so sophisticated in my makeup bag.
The price of Chanel’s Rouge Allure Velvet is as expected, but for the amount of product you get and if you think about how long it will last you, you really do get what you pay for. I will quite happily repurchase from the Rouge Allure Velvet range. =)
